KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

 

Prof. Dr. Oscar Castillo

Prof. Oscar Castillo holds the Doctor in Science degree (Doctor Habilitatus) in Computer Science from the Polish Academy of Sciences (with the Dissertation “Soft Computing and Fractal Theory for Intelligent Manufacturing”). He is a Professor of Computer Science in the Graduate Division, Tijuana Institute of Technology, Tijuana, Mexico. In addition, he is serving as Research Director of Computer Science and head of the research group on Hybrid Fuzzy Intelligent Systems. Currently, he is Vice-President of HAFSA (Hispanic American Fuzzy Systems Association) and President of IFSA (International Fuzzy Systems Association). Prof. Castillo is also Chair of the Mexican Chapter of the Computational Intelligence Society (IEEE). He also belongs to the Technical Committee on Fuzzy Systems of IEEE and to the Task Force on “Extensions to Type-1 Fuzzy Systems”. He is also a member of NAFIPS, IFSA and IEEE. He belongs to the Mexican Research System (SNI Level 2). His research interests are in Type-2 Fuzzy Logic, Fuzzy Control, Neuro-Fuzzy and Genetic-Fuzzy hybrid approaches. He has published over 100 journal papers, 7 authored books, 16 edited books, and 200 papers in conference proceedings. He has been Guest Editor of several successful Special Issues in the past, like in the following journals: Applied Soft Computing, Intelligent Systems, Information Sciences, Non-Linear Studies,  Fuzzy Sets and Systems, JAMRIS and Engineering Letters. He is currently Associate Editor of the Information Sciences Journal and the IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems.

Prof. Dr. Samarjit Kar

Samarjit Kar is a graduate of Presidency College with Post graduate from University of Calcutta and Ph.D from Vidyasagar University.
He is currently a professor in the Department of Mathematics, National Institute of Technology Durgapur, India. He is also an active participant in Chinese academia having served as a visiting professor at Tsinghua University since 2009, and as a co-investigator of two sponsored projects funded by Natural Science Foundation of China at Tsinghua University and Nankai University, and has delivered more than 20 invited talks at various Chinese institutions. His academic collaborations/co-authors include academics from China, Poland, Norway, Canada, Serbia, Lithuania and Turkey. His current research interests include operations research and optimization, soft computing, machine learning and uncertainty modelling. He has been doctoral dissertation adviser to twenty eight students as of now and six students are working currently under his supervision. He has published over 200 referred articles in international journals and authored six edited book volumes in Springer.He served as head of the mathematics department at NIT Durgapur from July 2011 to June 2013, July 2017 to June 2019 and also as a committee member to many administrative and academic councils on campus. Presently he act as secretary to Operational Research Society of India (Kolkata Chapter).
